ABSTRACT
Background: Island’s Wolfpack Bali is a running community consisting of runners ranging from beginners to experienced athletes. The intense physical activity within this community increases the risk of medical emergencies such as heart attacks, sports injuries, and dehydration. However, the level of knowledge among community members regarding Basic Life Support (BLS) and first aid is still low. Therefore, BLS and first aid training for sports injuries is important to improve the preparedness of community members in handling emergency situations.
Methods: This activity was conducted in the form of outreach and training for members of the Island’s Wolfpack Bali running community. The material provided included theory and practice related to BLS, the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED), and first aid for sports injuries. Evaluation was carried out through pre-tests and post-tests to measure participants’ knowledge improvement.
Results: The activity was attended by 30 participants. Evaluation results showed a significant increase in participants’ understanding of BLS and first aid, with an average post-test score improvement of 30% compared to the pre-test. Additionally, participants demonstrated high enthusiasm during the practical sessions, reflecting their readiness to apply the skills acquired.
Conclusion: BLS and first aid training has been proven to enhance the knowledge and skills of members of the Island’s Wolfpack Bali running community in responding to medical emergencies. Similar activities are expected to be conducted regularly to improve safety within the sports community.
