PKM Legal Assistance on Cooperation Contracts with Gamelan Craftsmen at UD. Kayumas, Dangin Puri Village, East Denpasar District, Denpasar City

Abstract

Dangin Puri Village, East Denpasar, Denpasar City, is a sub-district located at Jalan Kepundung No. 28, Dangin Puri, East Denpasar District, Denpasar City, Bali Province. Dangin Puri Village covers an area of 0.65 km2 with a population of 8,846 (as of 2021). Dangin Puri Village has a number of potential areas that can be developed for the welfare of the local community. Given its strategic location in Denpasar City, the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in various sectors, from culinary and crafts to services, can make a significant economic contribution. Given the significant potential in the entrepreneurial sector due to its strategic location in Denpasar City, many micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have flourished in Dangin Puri Village, such as handicrafts, small shops, food stalls, and tourism services. However, most of these MSMEs do not yet understand the digitalization that can facilitate their business development, nor do they understand the legal force of mandatory written business contracts with authentic deeds. One gamelan craftsman in Dangin Puri Village, specifically UD Kayu Mas, does not yet have a written contract for collaboration with external parties, even those that cross national borders. UD Kayu Mas's business and the crafts of UD Kayu Mas have not been optimally empowered so that from the aspect of legal certainty the cooperation contract is not clear, one day there are parties who are irresponsible or violate the cooperation contract with UD Kayu Mas, this will be a problem that causes disputes in the UD Kayu Mas business, besides that, what is important in the digital era is not yet understanding the field of knowledge or basic skills about digital technology. This makes it difficult for them to understand digitalization which has an impact on the difficulty of developing their business. Not all craftsmen have adequate access to technological devices (such as computers, smartphones) or the internet. This can be a major obstacle in the implementation of digitalization. Craftsmen may not fully understand that digitalization can increase income or expand income or expand their market. Given the importance of using digital technology in business development, socialization and training are needed to improve the understanding and skills of gamelan craftsmen in utilizing digital technology for the development of their business. Socialization was carried out by explaining the importance of understanding socialization and education to make a written cooperation contract in order to have legal certainty. UD Kayu Mas which is engaged in the field of gamelan and gender gending in the form of plaweh is a characteristic of UD Kayu Mas products that need to be preserved and empowerment of its products is carried out through students who study and train at UD Kayu Mas by opening studios in the Denpasar Municipality area, one of which is called the Swasti Swara studio. Digitalization technology can expand the market and develop businesses, such as creating and using online platforms to sell products, then teaching how to utilize social media for promotions such as through Instagram, Facebook, and online Marketerplace for product marketing. The community service team created an online business profile and promotional video for UD Kayu Mas gamelan craftsmen. The output of the community service implementation that has been carried out by the community service is a draft cooperation contract in socialization activities about the importance of making a written cooperation contract in the gamelan and gender gending in the form of plawah. Digitalization in the development of gamelan craftsmen's businesses is expected to run well and smoothly and be beneficial for UD Kayu Mas which is the target of education and socialization. The artisans also gained a better understanding of business cooperation contracts, which aim to maximize legal certainty, and the importance of digitalization for their business applications. Artisans can expand their business networks through digital platforms, which is expected to increase sales and operational efficiency. Related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)-based community service, the community service provided by the community service providers falls under SDG 3, on good health and well-being, and SDG 17, on partnerships for the goals. Publication outputs include draft community service contracts, an international journal titled Community Service Journal of Law, YouTube links, print media, a 4-minute video, a book chapter, and the final report of the 2026 Community Service Program (PKM).
